Future Possibilities of Immunotherapy

          We may call it by any name-immunopathy or immunotherapy- its future is very bright. Experiments were conducted on a group of proteins called CFS(Colony Stimulating Factor). It was found that it increases the capacity and activity of Macrophages remove the toxic elements that collect inside our body. It was also observed that these cells are able to finish off cancer cells in conjunction with CFS. The scientists are still experimenting with this discovery on cancer patients.
Immunopathy future possibilities

            Last year, two more substances called Cytolysin and Leukoregulin were discovered. These substances are produced by the resistance system of the body. These were found at the spots where LAK cells had reacted with parts affected by cancer. This method is not being used for treatment of cancer at the present stage. It is still being on rats, rabbits and monkeys.

            There are some cells in the cancer cells that can be described as ‘moles’ and act on behalf of the patient. These cell behave in a strange manner. When the white blood cells produce proteins during their battle against the cancer cells these cells utilise the protein and stop growing. This is known as ‘Tumor Necrosis Factor’. The experiments in this direction have gone a long way. As it is, the hope of their success is more than the actual success achieved. The battle continues.


            Apart from the above, experiments are being conducted on Interferon and Monoclonal antibodies. Interferon is a protein, while monoclonal antibodies is a resisting substance that is produced by the body when the cancer cells are injected into the body as is done in vaccination. Both these experiments are being conducted on animals. Nothing special has been achieved so far in this direction. Its future potentiality is still in the womb of future. Who knows, in the near future, these experiments may yield some beneficial results for humanity at large.
